Hilary Clinton Thankful For Writers Strike

by Jyle on December 3rd, 2007

Hilary Clinton Hilary Clinton has allot to be thankful for this holiday season. Because of the writers strike, she has been able to have some relief from the onslaught of jokes produced by late night comedians. Don Frederick and Andrew Malcom of La Times wrote an interesting article on the effects of the writer’s strike on American politicians.

Between Jan. 1 and Oct. 10, the senator from New York was the butt of 186 jokes cracked by NBC’s Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien, CBS’ David Letterman and Comedy Central’s Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, according to a study of the hosts’ monologues by the Center for Media and Public Affairs.

Barack Obama on the other hand only turned 56 cracks by the same late night comedians. Most of their jokes cantered around Clintons gender, seemingly cold attitude and her unattractiveness.

"Hillary is dressing sexier and sexier. Yesterday she was seen shopping at Victoria’s Pantsuit." — Letterman

"Sen. Clinton said that as president she would bring the troops home. The troops? She can’t even get Bill to come home." — Leno

Despite the jokes on Hilary, President George W. Bush has the most to be thankful for as drew 826 jokes. He was followed by Paris Hilton with 258 and Vice President Dick Cheney with 197.
