Get Ready For Some Night-Time Talk Show Reruns
When you think about it, night time talk shows require a large amount of writing genius. I remember when Jon Stewart took the stage during the Emmys. He stood up there, flanked on all sides by all of his co-writers to receive his "Outstanding Variety, Music or Comedy Series" award. As head writer of his show he deserved the recognition, but what about all of the other writers who support him? To tell you the truth, I don’t think about it all that much and I suppose the Hollywood Writers Guild felt underappreciated as well. That’s why they are demanding better compensation for DVD production and Internet revenue. That’s fair enough, I mean these guys are the very backbone of talk shows.
As far as the "how will this affect me?" part of this story is concerned, some TV shows will continue, while others will give you the chance to catch up with reruns. "The Daily Show," "Jimmy Kimmel Live," and "Late Night with Conan O’Brien" are all going to take a hit from the strike. So, here’s hoping that it’ll all get resolved soon so I can get back to watching my favourite shows.
